Flat Ruthie Visits Possum Memorial

Thanks for taking FR to see the Possum Memorial, Shuey.

You sure get around on your bike!   Lucky Flat Ruthie

The community of Wausau, Florida, in recognition of their gratitude to the Possum for providing food and fur for their survival in the pioneer days as well as during the “Great Depression” successfully sought the Florida Legislature to dedicate the first Saturday in August as “Possum Day” in Florida.

Since it’s passing in 1982, the town now celebrates that day each year with a town wide Possum Festival.  Guess what’s for dinner on that day!

And I found a link to Possum Recipes and how to catch one.
